Now that restrictions have eased and we can start to venture out like we used to, it’s time to start getting a bit more adventurous with our wardrobes! We’ve all definitely become accustomed to wearing easy to throw on clothes and little to no makeup, because we haven’t needed to – which of course is entirely understandable. Who needs to get dressed up when you’ve got no where to go or no one to see that you’ve made an effort with your appearance? Finally it feels like we’re starting to get somewhere and are able to tentatively make plans for socialising and getting on with our lives.
Being comfortable at home has certainly been a priority and items such Grey Loungewear have been my absolute favourites and they won’t be relegated to the back of the drawer any time soon. I’ve talked about the importance of having Co-Ords as part of your staple items but now it’s time to talk about clothes to wear where you really have places to go.
However, where jogging bottoms have no place outside for me, these black PU cuffed joggers do! I love this style as they’re casual but they’re smart enough to make an outfit look dressier. Be more daring and wear them with heels and a pretty Milkmaid Top and you have a going out outfit that you might not have considered. They are also versatile enough to be worn as an everyday item like you might do faux leather leggings, paired with trainers and a t-shirt/hoody. The added bonus of cuffed joggers is that they’re not restrictive, so you may as well be wearing normal joggers.
Now evening wear is what we’ve all been really looking forward to wearing again, as it’s been so long that anyone has really had an occasion to put their glad rags on. Going out for drinks or for a fancy meal? Then Body Con Midi Dresses will make you feel that you’ve really made an effort and who doesn’t want to go all out with dressing up now that we’re allowed out to enjoy a night out! I tried my very first body con mini dress in my last post and I have to say that I’m now a convert to a fitted dress, if it’s made with the right fabric and the style is long and not mini dress.
Black will always be a classic choice for me and I think this style would be flattering to most people. The off the shoulder design gives it an edge but still makes the dress very simple and the midi length of the dress keeps it looking very elegant. The ruched fabric from the waist downwards makes the dress sit comfortably against your figure and doesn’t draw the eye to lumps and bumps that you might have. It’s a great cut and I love the contrast of the black with my emerald green shoes as the dress really makes them pop. This dress is a statement in itself but it’s one to definitely accessorise with and you can mix up what you pair with it each time. I like bright bold colours such as green, yellow and red but I also think it would look great with leopard print shoes and bag and perhaps snakeskin too. Black is timeless and so easy to work with.
My love for bright colours is shown here with this gorgeous electric blue lace bodysuit. I’ve teamed it with the PU cuffed joggers for a more put together look that is certainly not understated. The key is not to be afraid to put items of clothing together that you ordinarily might think wouldn’t work. I love that the lacy bodysuit works well with the more casual look of the joggers and it also looks great with jeans too. Of course for an all together more going ‘out out’ look, it would look great with tailored black trousers or faux leather leggings. I always think that a more revealing top looks better worn with trousers and keeps the interest of course on the brightly coloured top and it’s detail.
