Autumn Fashion – Breton Top 3 ways

Summer is my absolute favourite season when it comes to fashion and I love wearing nothing more than flip flops or sandals with a pretty floaty midi dress (as seen here in my favourite dress of the summer from New Look, check it out here).

However, with a typical British summer brings with it some dreaded dull days and these are the days I choose to wear my favourite breton tops.

Summer is also the time I end up posing for photos more than any other season, as it’s just so much easier…

But is Summer really over?!

The time of year says it is but the school run says something completely different. Last week saw me drop the kids to school in a jumper and raincoat and then pick them up in a summer dress and sandals!

This is where the trusty breton top will be your best friend for this transitional period into full blown autumn wear.

The two featured in this post are both from Tog24. I have the Betsy Long Sleeve Stripe in Rose/White/Indigo and the Betsy Long Sleeve Stripe in Dark Indigo/White.

I’ve never really been a lover of long sleeve tops, but this year it’s proving to be a great addition to my autumnal wardrobe.

They’re such versatile tops and in this blog post I’m going to show you how you can wear it multiple ways, for the school run, a quick trip to the shops, coffee with friends or even to bum around in at home.

Pinafore Dress/Dungarees

I LOVE a pinafore dress and I get more than my fair share of wear out of them over over the summer months. The one featured here is from New Look and is also available in black, khaki, blue, red and yellow.

But now the weather is starting to turn, I can now can team a breton top with a pinafore dress and tights, meaning that a pinafore works well all year round.

I have also teamed my breton top with my new favourite dungarees. I’ve only ever owned one pair of dungarees and they were a fitted pair that made me feel a little self conscious, so I’m loving this relaxed pair that feel so much better on. These were from Next and they are also available in dark blue.

Jeans

When it starts to get colder I swap floaty summer dresses for jeans. You can usually find me in a pair of Jamie jeans from TopShop, which are my absolute favourite cut of jeans after years searching for a brand.

But I have recently discovered TopShops Mom Jeans which aren’t as skinny as their Jamie jeans but the cut is very flattering as they are high rise.

You can’t go wrong with your favourite pair of jeans and a classic long sleeved top.

Jogging Bottoms/PJs/lounging wear

Finally, my breton tops are a big yes when just lounging around at home.

Whether you are a jogging bottom, shorts, pj’s or underwear girl, these long sleeved tops are perfect for slipping into something a little more comfortable when chilling out at home with a nice warm cuppa.
