Norwich Face & Body Clinic: My experience of 3D Lipo

A couple of weeks ago I was invited along to the Norwich Face & Body Clinic, to initially try out 3D Lipo. It is a brand new clinic that not only offers 3D Lipo, but also Facial Aesthetics (anti wrinkle injections and fillers), Eyebrow Microblading, Wonderlash Eyelash Extensions, Sleeping Beauty Light Therapy Facials and Holistic treatments.

I’m always intrigued to try new treatments and after a little research and zero persuasion needed, I took up the offer of a consultation and subsequent treatment.

I must admit that this was all new to me, however I do vaguely remember that The Apprentice winner back in 2013 was the lady behind this technology coming into clinics.

What got me interested straight away was the fact that this treatment is ‘non invasive’, meaning that it’s external rather than what you would experience if you were to have traditional liposuction. From what I have seen, surgical lipo looks brutal and would never be an avenue that I would pursue, however, this is revolutionary in comparison.

It’s basically non-surgical treatment and 3D Lipo is a fabulous treatment used by many people all around the world including several celebrity’s. 3D Lipo got its name as it incorporates three treatments in one: Fat removal, skin tightening and cellulite reduction.

I was welcomed into the clinic by Lauren who is the very lovely co-owner of the clinic and passionate about the services that they provide. She’s the mastermind behind the business and her dedication and attention to detail didn’t go unnoticed with me. Their whole ethos really shines through.

My consultation consisted of a chat about my medical history and previous treatments I’d had, along with discussion about what areas concern me most and what Lauren felt would be the best course of action to take. Lauren then set about explaining in detail about how fat is formed and develops in our bodies – all of which I found really interesting and has really made me think about my lifestyle choices!

I’m not someone who worries too much about my weight (I love my food too much!) but that doesn’t mean that I don’t have areas that can be improved on. I’ve always felt that I carry more fat around my tummy than I’d like and that was even before having three kids. So naturally, that was my number one area to be targeted.

We decided that Cryolipolysis would be the most benefical treatment for my abdominal area. This procedure is when the fat cells are destroyed by being frozen to -6 degrees without damaging any of the surrounding tissues or the skin. The fat cells are then disposed of naturally through the body in the weeks after the treatment. In fact the results aren’t seen until about three months afterwards, so I will be looking at around January time until I start to see a difference.

What did I think of Cryolipolysis?

When I initially realised that the fat cells would be frozen, I immediately felt that it was going to be really uncomfortable and considering that it takes an hour to complete the cycle, I definitely felt that it might feel very strange. In fact, I wasn’t ever aware of any extreme cold feeling during the treatment, only a slight pulling sensation when my stomach was suctioned into the device, which dissipated after a few minutes.

The whole process took about an hour and in the meantime I was spoilt by having the Sleeping Beauty Light Therapy Facial while lying on the bed.

I was warned that I could get some slight bruising and my stomach may feel numb for a little while after. I usually bruise really easily but I had no marks form on my skin at all and I barely noticed that my tummy was chilly to touch. You can also expect to pass urine a little more frequently afterwards but this is all a good indication that your body is doing what it should be doing.

All in all, it was an extremely painless experience and I was pleasantly surprised.

What did I think of the Sleeping Beauty Light Therapy Facial?

I was given a mask to place over my face that looked just like the white mask from the horror film Halloween! Of course, that’s where the horror ended. The LED facial mask uses colour light therapy (UV-free) in specific wavelengths via tiny LED bulbs to increase facial blood circulation and promote collagen production, reduce fine lines & wrinkles, skin healing properties, and acne reduction.

We opted for the mask emitting red light (which is the most commonly used one) which stimulates the growth of collagen. It was completely painless and quite relaxing really. It left my skin slightly flushed, which is of course what we wanted to achieve and I definitely that my complexion appeared a little brighter afterwards – nice and healthy looking.

As we over ran a bit with the Cryolipolysis, I popped back another day for a session to try out another technique.

We had decided that we’d target a couple of areas on my body and the other area was the back of my thighs and under my bum. Saddle bags if you like! I don’t really suffer a lot with cellulite and it’s certainly not something that I worry about appearance wise, but I’ve noticed that it is an area where fat seems to pocket.

This time Lauren tried a couple of techniques that we both agreed would help me achieve the results I am looking for. I went for a combination of Radio Frequency over the area for skin tightening aswell as Dermology to reduce the appearance of cellulite.

What did I think of Radio Frequency?

This technique proved to be very straight forward. The Radio Frequency selectively heats skin tissues, which can cause collagen fibres to contract and produce new collagen. It feels very warm and the motion of the treatment feels very much like a massage, however, although I was fully warned, the ringing in my ears due the Radio Frequency was really quite loud and somewhat disconcerting to start with. Having tried all of the treatments herself, Lauren assured me that this was entirely normal and I would get used to it after a short while and she was right – I did start to relax after a while.  I did find an area a little sore on one thigh through the massage but this is an area that is very sensitive usually for me, so we eventually agreed to not focus so heavily on that area.  Afterwards a special vacuum, with suction and rollers was used across my thighs to help drain away fat cells through my lymphatic system. This was relatively painless but made me jump a little! It was such a strange sensation.

So although I wasn’t able to relax so much with this approach, once again I walked away with no bruising or soreness and felt no ill effects whatsoever. The skin on my thighs actually felt smoother as soon as the treatment was finished. I’m sure with extra treatments, the results will become even more apparent.

The 3 functions that 3D Lipo offers:

Cryolipolysis for fat reduction.

Radio Frequency for skin tightening.

Dermology for cellulite reduction.

The key is often combining treatments which can mean less fat, tighter skin and less cellulite in treated areas. So you can pick which areas need to be targeted and improve the appearance using the different techniques and what might work better for your body.

Lauren wanted to also emphasise that with any fat loss treatment there is also the downside that, if you don’t change your diet, exercise and lifestyle habits, the fat could come back. She is keen to promote that treatment should involve a change of mind, body and habits – to ultimately get the best results in the long term, rather than a quick fix treatment.

If this is something that you would like to try out for yourself then you can receive 50% off your first treatment that you book – using the code HannahNFBC when you complete your booking online. There are also 15 minute ‘Taster’ sessions available too, if you want to try something out first.

Nb. I was kindly invited to the Norwich Face & Body Clinic to trial the 3D Lipo treatments but all views and opinions remain entirely my own.
