Eerie events to explore this Halloween

Throughout the month of October, many spooktacular events are taking place up and down the country. With Halloween getting eerily close, you may be looking for fun things to do with the kids, or maybe you’re looking for terrifyingly good events with friends. If you haven’t made any plans for the scariest day of the year, fear not, as we have rounded up some of the best events happening across the UK for Halloween 2023!

Scarefest at Alton Towers

With live entertainment and scary experiences aplenty, this is a great spooky event for kids of all ages. It’s open until 9pm so there is enough time to experience all the scary shenanigans Alton Towers offers, from riding hair-raising rollercoasters in the dark to tiptoeing through the terrifying dungeon. Or if you’re looking for something a bit more spooky than scary, take your little ones to the interactive Trick O’ Treat Town or join your favourite characters at the CBeebies Land Monster Ball.

Luna Springs Halloween Scaremaze

There are plenty of spine-chilling Birmingham Halloween events on to keep you entertained, from zombie discos, the weird and wonderful circus and even a Halloween Scaremaze. This immersive horror experience is not for the fainthearted with varying degrees of terror awaiting you at every twist and turn and live actors lurking in the abandoned facility. The Scaremaze is for ages 14+ and must be accompanied by an adult. For those too scared to dare enter the maze, there are funfair rides, DJs and devilishly delicious street food to try.

Halloween Hoots at Edinburgh Zoo

For something a little tamer, why not take an eerie tour around Edinburgh Zoo at dusk? This spooky trail is fun for all the family, with different Halloween-themed animal displays to admire and pumpkin carving sessions to get crafty with. There are many weird and creepy creatures for you to see in this ZOOpernatural animal experience, from learning all about the behaviours of the mystical residents and discovering fun yet chilling facts about the animals.

Halloween at Fonmon Castle

Why not visit a creepy castle this Halloween and explore all that Fonmon Castle has to offer? The Horror Magician is ready to amaze you with his tricks and book of spells or you can take a walk through the gentle horror-themed Skeleton Gardens. If you’re up for a good scare take on the challenge of the Scare Run which takes you through different areas of horror. There’s also the Medieval farm with its new spooky theme for you to wander around and explore.

The Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade

If you go down in the woods today, you’re sure of a big surprise, and that’s certainly the case with this magical light extravaganza taking place in Cheshire and Norfolk. BeWILDerwood’s famous Glorious Glowing Lantern Parade sees the woods light up as Boggles embark on a nighttime journey, watching the story unfold while walking along mysterious pathways. This is a great Halloween event for little ones who may be wanting a rather spooky antic rather than something scary.
