4 Things In Your Daily Life That can Help You Save The World

What a beautiful planet we’re lucky enough to love on. And how tenuous our relationship with it has become. For a little over a century we’ve lived in industrial societies all over the world, shaping the world in our own image as we mine the planet for the resources we need to thrive and prosper. But after over a century of doing pretty much whatever we want, the planet is starting to show us that it can’t carry on like this for much longer. Indeed, some scientists argue that it’s already too late to prevent climate change.

But even if that were true, there’s always something that we can all do to help make this world a better place for the generations who will inherit it from us. Saving the world isn’t just the responsibility of governments and world leaders. It isn’t just the responsibility of titans of industry. We can all do our part to save the world. And there are small changes you can make in your daily life that can help you to instigate the change that can save this fragile blue planet we all share…

Your dinner plate

Believe it or not, one of the most powerful ways you can affect change for our planet is to eat. Not just anything of course. Eating more wholefoods and especially plants can have a significant impact on your household’s environmental footprint.

Animal agriculture is the world’s leading cause of climate change, air pollution, fishing “dead zones”, species extinction and animal habitat loss. Plant based foods, on the other hand, cost a fraction of the land, water and resources to grow. That doesn’t mean you need to go full vegan to make a difference. Just try to eat more plants and less of everything else.

Your home

Recycling is good, upcycling and repurposing are better. So are using more natural cleaners like lemon juice, vinegar and baking soda and fewer harsh chemicals. There are so many ways in which you can make your home more ecologically friendly that we could fill up our word count on that alone. Instead we’ll just defer to these tips to make your home more eco-friendly. You’ll be surprised just how easy (and cost-effective) it is.

Your beauty products

We all love our beauty products. We love the way they make us look. We love the way they make us feel. We even love how neat they look stacked side by side together. Still, not only are some products (needlessly) tested on animals, they are chock full of harmful (and even carcinogenic) chemical compounds. Take a moment to look into the most ethical and eco-friendly cosmetics brands

Your bike

Finally, one of the best things you can do for the planet is to get on your bike. Not only can it lessen your reliance on your car (and fossil fuels), the act of cycling floods your brain with endorphins and is one of the most pleasurable ways there is to get around. So it makes you calmer and happier even as it helps you to get greener.
