One of my favourite things to do from time to time is to dream about what I would have in my own home, if money were no object. It’s like when you fantasise about winning the lottery and you go a little crazy thinking about what you would actually spend the money on.
Our home is pretty lovely as it is but I always like to make inspiration boards and make tweaks here and there. I’m not one for keeping the same decor for years and years and think it does you good to have a freshen up and change of scene.
We have a big kitchen, but the kitchen of my dreams would have a large island in the centre, complete with bar stools overlooking bifolding doors to the garden and patio area.
Our bedroom would be more minimal than it is and would focus more on plain white with some colours added, nice and simple for that place to go and just rest in. I love these fairy lights, we currently have some draped over our headboard but these make a great feature and are easily changeable.
I have also always loved the idea of having bricks like you see typically in apartments in New York. It’s a feature wall in itself but it adds great warmth to the room and feels really cosy to me. Once again, simple accessorising all the way.
I would also have a much larger en-suite with a bath and a walk in shower like the ones here. I love that this has a little seat in it too.
At the moment I have a desk in the kitchen, which is plenty big enough to house it. However, If there was a spare room, I’d have a separate little oasis just for me. It would be a room that I could work in but also use as a place to put up my feet and grab a book and a cuppa – in peace.
The room goals will always be ongoing but these are just a few of mine at the moment.
Nb. This is a collaborative post.
I love this. I’ve always wanted an exposed brick wall in the bedroom, but sadly, I think wallpaper is going to be the closest I get to it in this house!
The office is dreamy too, hello hammock!?!
They’re so cool aren’t they? One day, I’ll have one! But yeah I agree, wallpaper is probably the closest that I’ll get too!
Oh my – that is the shower of dreams!!
Love all the twinkly fairy lights too – we have a few here and there but they always seem to end up with batteries run out or left off doing nowt! x
I love fairy lights but don’t use them to full effect. Ours are always running low on batteries too! x
Such gorgeous ideas! Those fairy lights in the bedroom look incredible. I’m in the process of doing up our spare room/office to be a place as lovely as that last picture but it’s likely to take a very long time…sigh.
I think so too, such a simple idea that looks so pretty! Ah I’m sure it’ll be worth it in the end though 🙂
Ahhh I totally agree with all your inspiration – I’d love the same too! Especially a kitchen island. And that bathroom. Oh goodness, I’d want to stay in there all day.
An island is something that I’ve wanted for so long, I’ll have really made it when I manage to have one, ha ha 🙂
I love this idea, I’m forever day dreaming about how I would style my dream home. Perhaps I should put it down on the blog rather than keeping it in my head!! I definitely would like the large bi-fold doors into the garden and a huge walk in shower for two 😉
Yes yes yes to all this, oh how I dream for my own home to make it mine.
