Festive bedding at Christmas

I say it every year, but I can’t believe that Christmas is already here, well almost! All of the preparations are under way and it’s nearly time to put my feet up and enjoy a glass of bubbly…

Although I love a family afternoon spent in the lounge watching a lovely Christmas film, I do love my bedroom having some festive treatment too. I haven’t gone as far as putting an actual tree in our bedroom, but I do quite like the idea and wouldn’t it be amazing to wake up to the smell of the pine?

As we don’t have any festive bedding to pull out at the beginning of December, it’s nice to add some fairy lights and sparkle the bedroom. I always have some candles burning, fairy lights on and lots of cosy throws and cushions.

My favourite bedding set is a white waffle one, that adds some texture and is also rather handy because you can’t see any creases when it’s been washed – which means there is no ironing involved either!

Another good way to add texture is to introduce a chunky knitted throw across the bottom of the bed. This works better with a plain duvet cover too and keeps things simple and understated.

I’m actually rather fussy when it comes to bedding anyway, as I like to keep patterns and colours minimal and always prefer a crisp white set of linen over a fancy print. They go with everything and it means you can change the colour and themes in your room really easily, without having to buy a new bedding set to match.

Add some festive sprigs in a vase, light a candle and get all cosy in your bedroom this Christmas and because it’s cold and wet for the forseeable, I expect I’ll carry this throughout the winter months.
