Even though it’s now officially Autumn, the last of the summer weather (which we didn’t have during the summer lets face it) has had me grabbing some of my summery pieces to wear a few more times, before they’re swapped out for my winter wardrobe.
History with New Look
I’ve always loved New Look and it’s no surprise that a fair amount of my wardrobe consists of their clothes. Funnily enough it was the only ‘young persons’ clothes shop (that was remotely cool) in the small town that I grew up in and although I did shop there, I often tended to buy more from Topshop and River Island in another town. It’s probably around thirty years later that I would say that New Look has come a long way since those days – yet one thing that has stayed the same is the fact it’s affordable.
This camisole top is a staple in my wardrobe. You can’t beat the versatility of a cami and a black one at that. This one has a criss cross detail across the back and I also have one in a bright pink shade too. I’m wearing it with a maxi skirt that is actually meant to be a bikini cover up! I saw it in the sale last year and bought it for this summer, but i guess it’ll have to wait for next summer when hopefully we’ll get to go away. I’ve not really had the opportunity to wear it but it can of course be worn as I’m wearing it, you just need to make sure that your underwear doesn’t show through as it’s fairly see through.
This pink floral dress was one of my later purchases this year. It has a square neckline and puff sleeves and is so flattering on. It’s always a bit of a gamble when it comes to their dresses as to whether they are going to be too short, but this one is just about right and it hasn’t shrunk in the wash either.
It’s made of a crinkle fabric so you kind of can get away without ironing it too – extra bonus!
Apart from this shoot, I haven’t had chance to wear this blue animal print dress yet. It caught my eye straight away on their website as I love this shade of blue. It’s got lovely frill detailing and although I bought it as a summer dress initially, I know that it will work well into the colder months too. It will go well with a biker jacket and boots.
For a summer look I’ve got a pair of black stiletto’s on from New Look that will go with literally everything.
Here is the black camisole again worn with these blue frill shorts. I bought these in the sale a few weeks ago too and really wanted a black pair but they had sold out in my size. They also had a lovely mint green coloured pair, but I decided to go with this colour. They’re super feminine with the look of a skirt but the practicalities of being a pair of shorts. I can’t wait to get some good use out of them next year.
My absolute favourite item I’ve bought from New Look lately though, has been this green floral top. The green is beautiful and the pops of colours from the flowers make it an eye catching top. I wore it out for recent night out with black jeans and the yellow wedges above. Believe it or not I had ironed this top before I left the house. It’s one of those tops that you can’t get away without ironing but I still would have bought it anyway…
This outfit combination with my trusty faux leather leggings is definitely my favourite. All I need now is a date night to go on!
