Last week we took a trip out to one of our favourite spots by the river. Even though it was a dismal day, it was nice to be able to enjoy the surroundings without it being full of people going for walks like it is at the weekends.
So armed with the baby carrier and our boys safely at school, we took an impromptu drive to the riverside, just the three of us. We were only out for an hour but it’s surprising what you can achieve in that time and apart from the dressing up antics being a bit comical, this posing malarky can be quite fun I suppose.
After finding a bush to squeeze behind and successfully clambering into clothes without falling in the mud, (no mean feat for me) we managed to take some rather serene looking photos.
I do love wearing dresses but often find that two pieces can work so much better than one and can be much more versatile.
This outfit is from H&M. I’ve had my eye on getting a pleated skirt for a while now, but have never found one that I’ve felt comfortable in or felt suited me. This is classic cream and I teamed it with a black ribbed tank vest and my trusty Nine West heels. I love the ballerina length and although it’s not something for everyday wear, it’s definitely a staple for my wardrobe. Afternoon tea maybe?
Black vest ~ H&M – £12.99 | Pleated skirt ~ H&M – £24.99 | Heels ~ Nine West (many years old!).
I love oversized tees and you can’t go wrong with this white top from Pretty Little Thing. My jeans are from Boohoo and are my new favourite, they’re just so soft!. The black glittery skater shoes are from F&F (from a couple of years ago) and I think that I might need to get myself a new sparkly pair soon…
White top ~ Pretty Little Thing – £8 | Jeans ~ Boohoo – £15
I’ve had a bit of a love hate relationship with bardot style tops. I always lust after them but I feel that they’re kind of unpractical. They look great but I find them hard to actually keep off your shoulders! I made an exception with this top though as I loved the stripes and the 3/4 length sleeves with pretty ties. It’s also a great length and I think the cut is very flattering.
Shirt ~ New Look – £24.99 | Jeans ~ Boohoo – £15 | Brown boots ~ Office – £95 (last season).
I’ll be back soon with another location once we’ve found one and some more autumnal pieces 🙂
looking good Hannah! Love the striped top & jeans/boots combo & I’m glad you’ve said that about Bardot tops, I thought it was just me & my lack of shoulder width. I bought a dress for holidays & it just pops back onto my shoulders, and is so annoying!
Hanna is loving Boohoo & has just spent birthday money in there – and she ‘s also found the Boohoo outlet on Ebay which is a bit of a bargain!
Thanks Helen! Yes, they can be so awkward can’t they. They’re alright if you don’t move your arms! ha ha. I haven’t seen the outlet, so will have to have a look – thanks x
What a beautiful place for a photo shoot! I love the jeans from the second look, might have to go and have a wee nosy because I really need some new jeans!
It’s a really lovely place and it was so quiet too. They’re definitely worth a look and they’re such a good price too 🙂
You look amazing (obviously). Love the pics and I love the idea of you changing in a bush lol.
The last outfit is my total fave. Suits you so well but totally get the Bardot issue. I’ve yet to find one that works.
The pleated skirt would look awaken dressed down with the shoes from look 2 too.
Thanks so much Kara! It’s a lovely spot isn’t it. Ha ha I initially wasn’t keen about the bush but needs must!
The Bardot top issue seems to be really common, must be a total nightmare for people with more rounded shoulders too. I like the idea of dressing down the skirt, this is something I need to get better at, having the confidence to change the looks xx
I am having the same love hate with the bardot tops. They look gorgeous when they are in the right place, but they very rarely are on me!
That’s it isn’t it, they’re ok if you don’t have to move your arms! ha ha x
Seriously, how do you look so good after three babies? lol! I absolutely love that H&M outfit on you, that skirt is stunning. Wish i could pull a look like this off as well as you do! xxx
Ah thanks Vikki, that’s a nice thing to say but I know that you look great yourself and you could totally pull this off! 🙂 xx
I love this last outfit best but they all look fab. Look at you being a model, love it xx
Aw thanks, it’s actually quite good fun and the results surprisingly good 🙂 x
