Summer fun on the road

After the beautiful weather we have had this weekend, it has certainly given me a spring in my step about many more warm weekends ahead this summer. The world just seems a better and happier place and it’s the time when everyone wants to be out and about, no matter how busy it may get.

It gets me thinking about what trips we should plan for the summer months for our little family ‘getaways’. We are actually having a summer holiday abroad but we also plan to explore the UK as much as we can too and make the most of our free weekends and enjoy quality time with our boys, making memories.

Life's a beach

It can be really fun to pack up the car rental with supplies and just head off for an adventure. Some of the most fun can be had when planning trips away, stuffing the car full of what feels like your worldly possessions!

We invested in a family annual pass to enable us to visit various theme parks around the country, as we knew that we had a couple of trips planned and the pass would be an investment. We have already spent a weekend away for Beasties fifth birthday, where we found a cheap hotel deal that was fairly close to Legoland in Windsor.

Next up we will be travelling to Staffordshire and visiting Alton Towers, where we will be staying with friends. If you have little ones then they’ll love the new Cbeebies attraction that is opening next week. I think my two year will literally burst with excitement.

There are some places that I would like to think about squeezing in at some point – although optimistic for one summer…

Visiting The Eden Project in Cornwall

A trip to Brighton and other seaside towns

A drive around the New Forest

Sailing over to the Isle of Wight

Reliving childhood memories at the Wookey Hole in Somerset and similarly Blackpool and the illuminations.

A stay in the Lake/Peak District

I think the list could be much larger and the more I think about it, the more I could add. There’s nothing quite like a road trip…
