There are few better places for a fun family day out than Portsmouth. 1. Emirates Spinnaker Tower

The most striking feature of Portsmouth is the Spinnaker Tower which soars 170-metres into the air providing incredible views over Portsmouth and out to sea. 2. Mary Rose Museum

The Mary Rose Museum in the historic Portsmouth Dockyard tells the fascinating tale of Henry VII’s warship which was lost in 1545 and only recovered in 1982. It is an educational yet highly fun experience with all kinds of tours and exhibits that will tell the epic tale of what happened to this legendary Tudor ship.

3. Gunwharf Quays

This is the South coast’s leading designer shopping outlet where you can make big savings on over 90 famous brands, plus there are plenty of spots for relaxing, enjoying some food and taking in the views of yachts in the harbour.

4. Canoe Lake

This picture-perfect park is located just off the coast and is home to a man-made boating lake which is lined by stunning floral bedding to create an idyllic setting and somewhere perfect to take the kids. You could take a few pedal boats out for hire, take the kids to the fun play area, check out the sports facilities or simply sit on a bench and take in the views of this peaceful area.

5. Albert Road

Albert Road is the beating heart of Portsmouth with all kinds of cool and quirky independent shops along with inviting cafes, pubs and restaurants. There is a laid-back and friendly atmosphere but during the day and at night and somewhere that you will certainly be able to pick up a few unique souvenirs from your trip to the coast.

Getting to Portsmouth

Portsmouth is also easy to get to with a few options available. You could drive but it is easier and less stressful to simply jump on a train going from Chichester to Portsmouth Harbour which drops your right by the sea.
