Matching Your Kitchen Flooring With Your Cabinets

Choosing a new flooring is a hard task. With there being tonnes of options such as: solid wood, engineered wood, laminate, stone, vinyl and tiles you’re nearly always spoilt for choice! Not to mention there are so many thicknesses, and finishes make your decision even harder. Then you have to think about what’s going to go with your interior, ahh! Let’s take one step at a time, if you’re revamping your kitchen let’s have a look at how you can match your new flooring with your kitchen counters.

Neutrality

When considering a room that gets as much use as the kitchen, simplicity is key. As much as you may try and avoid, the kitchen will nearly always get cluttered, so a nice clean and plain colour scheme is what you need to be aiming for. We’d say that you can be more adventurous with your flooring but keep your cabinets simple. Think of a relaxed, timeless design…

Don’t over do it

Before considering an overall colour scheme, make sure that you test lots of different samples and put them against your flooring/cabinets. Be very careful with clashing wood though – if you have wood floors perhaps go for marble work surfaces or cabinets. And if you have wood surfaces, maybe look at a stone effect floor. We’d recommend picking your worksurfaces and cabinets before you pick your flooring, as they very in terms of patterns and variations, then your flooring can fit in.

Top it off with accessories!

Once you’ve successfully matched your cabinets, work surfaces and floors, accessories are up next. Stick to a colour or material theme for appliances, metal always looks snazzy or if you like a rustic theme perhaps pastel appliances. Think about small details such as doorknobs and light fixtures, these details will really make the differences if you pay attention to matching them.
