T-shirt styling for your capsule wardrobe

The classic t-shirt is a staple in everyone’s wardrobe, right? The great thing about t-shirts is the fact that they’re so versatile and that they’re easy to dress them up or down. From simple white tees to statement pieces and second hand t-shirts, there is so much you can do.  By incorporating a simple tee into your outfits choices will mean that you have a multitude of outfit variations to choose from.

Styling a motif t-shirt

Most people own a motif t-shirt of some kind but it’s not always that easy to know what to wear with them and how to make them stylish.

When it comes to graphic t-shirt’s, you are making a statement in itself, so you want to be keeping the rest of your outfit low key. Style with some jeans and a jacket, or team with a skirt and some boots to create a more edgy look. If your outfit is looking at bit plain, then accessorise with a hat and jewellery to complete it and draw attention to those details and your graphic tee. Depending on where the motif is and how large it is, means that you can layer for a different look and reveal the motif when you want to.

Styling a white t-shirt

The classic t-shirt that you really can’t go wrong with. It’s an essential part of anyone’s capsule wardrobe as it goes with most things that you own. If you’re keeping it casual, then it works well on its own with a skirt, shorts or trousers. If you’re layering, then it’s ideal to wear underneath dresses and pinafores.

Looking for the smart casual look? Then dress to impress by wearing a white tee underneath a blazer to give a polished look that doesn’t require much effort. You’ll look the part and all you have to do is remove your blazer or jacket for a less formal look.

Style your t-shirt to your outfit

If you have an outfit or item of clothing in mind to wear that has a pattern or is more of a statement piece, then make sure that you have plain t-shirts to complement the tone in those pieces. A brightly patterned midi skirt would work well with a plain coloured t-shirt, so that it doesn’t detract from the print.

Black t-shirts often work well with more vibrant clothes and will mostly go with anything you wear. By keeping simple block colours as key items, then you’ll really start to realise that t-shirts will go with anything. They can take you from day to night by changing pieces of outerwear and swapping out accessories.

Wear them in different ways

Remember that you can style your t-shirt in different ways too. Not only can they be worn loose, but you can tuck them into your skirts and jeans as well as wearing them loose. Tucking them in will make your figure more streamlined and will help accentuate outfits such as high waisted jeans and mini skirts. Try tying your t-shirt in a knot at the front for a more fun and casual look, or perhaps tuck the front in and leave the back loose.
