Rice Krispie Cakes

I had planned to contribute my first post to the linky ‘Cooking With Your Toddler’ over at The Crazy Kitchen earlier this week but failed to do so missing a vital ingredient, Golden Syrup. My plan was to make Rice Krispie Cakes (thank you Seasider in the City) with Beastie as an easy way to start off joining in all the fun. So after shopping this morning we were armed with the required amount of Golden Syrup for the recipe.

For the recipe you will need:

4 tblsp golden syrup
1 tblsp sugar
1 tblsp margarine
1 tsp cocoa powder
3 cups cereal – whatever you choose!

Melt all the ingredients (bar the cereal) in a pan until liquid then allow to cool. Then mix the cereal into the mixture.

Divide into cases, however many you may need and then place them in the fridge. Then tuck in a little later once they have set!

There was just one problem. My little ‘helper’ had decided that he was tired and went for a nap, a nap that overran somewhat (he needed it). So unfortunately this post bends the rules slightly by not involving a toddler in the cooking, however I have been granted permission from The Crazy Kitchen lady herself to join up anyway and show Beastie’s appreciation.

The added bonus of course was that I was the only one on hand to lick the spoon…such a shame.

Beastie was a little distracted by the tv but you can see from his nod of approval that they get the thumbs up
