Sense Christmas Appeal 2012

Sense is a national charity for deafblind adults and children. For people that are deafblind the world is particularly challenging as the combination of sight and hearing impairment makes communication difficult. The charity helps by providing advice and information as well as specialist services to people with dual sensory impairments.

For children the team offer specialist advisory teachers, children’s therapists and children and family support workers. They offer professional and experienced help to children who are deafblind and multi-sensory impaired and to the professionals working with them.

We can take for granted what our own children experience at Christmas. Imagine if your child couldn’t appreciate the toys that most young children enjoy? For children like Elliot with profound hearing loss and very limited vision, communicating with people wasn’t possible until his family found Sense. He has now discovered a love for toys and no longer lives in a world of silence and darkness. It’s amazing to the see the sheer delight on his face during this video and the huge difference that has been made to his life. It’s magical.

You can see Elliot’s story here and even help make his Christmas that bit more special…
